Offices in Lhamoizingkha Dungkhag under Dagana are struggling to function without internet facility for about four months now. Some offices have bought data card to enable their employees to use internet.
Lhamoizingkha Dungkhag’s Assistant Accountant, Tashi Dorji, said they have been using data card to get their work done.
“After 2010, with the change in accounting system from BAS to PEMS, the use of internet has increased. Lhamoizingkha Dungkhag doesn’t have broadband or lease line so it is problematic. We get all the important releases from DPA. We scan it and email it using data card.”
Proper landline was never installed in Lhamoizingkha dungkhag.
Earlier, people used landline phones with the help of an equipment called Corvan, which was installed under the rural project in 2007. The warranty period of the equipment had expired and a new one could not be bought.
The Regional Manager of Telecom in Phuentsholing, Jichen Thinley, said they will have it replaced with a fixed wireless telephone set in the dungkhag office, RBP, School and the hospital.
Meanwhile, the telecom office in Lhamoizingkha, is allowing people to use their scan machine and internet facility.
