Late Lopon Kinley Gyeltshen cremated

Late Lopon Kinley Gyeltshen crematedLate Lopon Kinley Gyeltshen was cremated, today, at the Lekshed Jungney Shedra in Punakha. The funeral was presided over by His Holiness the Je Khenpo and the five Lopons of the Zhung Dratshang. His Holiness and two Lopons presided over the Chenrezi-Sungchoe and the Dorji Lopon along with the other two Lopons, Lam Netens, Khenpos and hundreds of monks performed the Mithrugpa.

Thousands of devotees also attended Lopon Kinley Gyeltshen’s funeral and offered prayers and Nyenda. There were also some devotees who had come from Laya.HH-Late Lopon Kinley Gyeltshen cremated.

Lopon Kinley Gyeltshen received the Druk Thuksey Medal from his Majesty on Dececember 17, last year, for his contributions towards religious education. He had also served as the Drabi Lopon from 1999 till 2002.  Late Lopon Kinley Gyeltshen, who passed away at 67 years, was from Toeb Menchuna. He laid in repose for 21 days at the Lekshed Jungney Shedra.

The Health Minister, Foreign Minister, Major General Batoo Tshering, and other senior government officials attended the funeral. Disciples of the late lopon from Vietnam had also come for the funeral rites.
