The Foreign Affairs Ministry has accepted and considered Labour Ministry’s explanation letter of the Director-General Sherab Tenzin’s letter to the Honorary Consul in Japan regarding Sonam Tamang’s case.
The Director-General of the Department of Employment and Human Resources has been warned not to repeat it in the future.
Foreign Minister Dr Tandi Dorji said the explanation letter stated that Sonam Tamang’s family left for Japan on Friday, July 26 and the next two days were weekend holidays. That is why the department had to do it faster and was not able to inform the foreign affairs ministry or the cabinet.
The Foreign Affairs Ministry earlier this month had asked for an explanation letter from the Labour Ministry. The Director-General had directly sent the letter to the Honorary Consul in Japan without informing the ministry which was not keeping it with the norms of the ministry.
