The 31st Kagyu Monlam Chenmo in Bodhgaya in India concluded yesterday with the offering of the butter lamp prayers. More than 10,000 devotees including monks and nuns attended the prayer ceremony.
The 17th Karmapa, Ogyen Thrinley Dorje, Head of the Karma Kagyu School in Tibetan Buddhism, while speaking to the pilgrims, said people in general wants happiness and wish to free themselves from the suffering. So by performing the monlam chenmo, the 17th Karmapa said he prayed for the peace and happiness, injecting compassion and wisdom in every individual to spread the Dharma.
The last day saw various cultural performances from different countries including performances from the Royal Academy of Performing Arts in Bhutan.
