The first ever international Buddhist Nuns conference began in Paro, yesterday. The theme is on the roles and responsibilities of Buddhist Nuns in post-modern society. The conference aims to empower nuns and create a platform to share their experiences, best practices and challenges, to create a network among nuns.
The patronage of the Bhutan Nuns foundation, Her Majesty the Queen Mother Tshering Yangdon Wangchuck graced the opening of the conference. Also present was Her Royal Highness Princess Dechen Yangzom Wangchuck. Over 100 Nuns from Bhutan and abroad are taking part in the three day conference.
