Coinciding with the auspicious occasion of the Birth Anniversary of His Majesty The Third Druk Gyalpo, the De-suung National Service (DNS): Construction of Multi-utility Infrastructure has been concurrently launched today at the five Gyalsung Project sites. It will be implemented in partnership with Gyalsung Infra.
Inspired by the successes of DNS in Water, Road, Fruit-tree Plantation and National Dog Population Management projects during the last two years despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, this DNS has been initiated to provide De-suups with the opportunity to serve in some activities of the construction of Gyalsung Academies, where thousands of Bhutanese youth will undergo the Gyalsung Training every year. The opportunity to engage in a vital national undertaking is expected to instil in the De-suups a great sense of pride and duty knowing that they have been able to contribute to the creation of a monumental and enduring legacy and that their own children will someday benefit from the very infrastructure they help build today.
Hundred and six De-suups have been deployed to carry out the casting of precast manhole sections from 25th April 2022 in Jamtsholing (Samtse), Tareythang (Sarpang), Khotokha (Wangdue Phodrang), Bongdeyma (Monggar) and Pemathang (Samdrup Jongkhar). In the process of their engagement, De-suups will acquire important skills in construction-related trades, particularly in mechanized formworks in precast technology designed by Japanese experts. About 50 De-suups have already been engaged since 18th April to construct a new seven-km water supply line for Jamtsholing.
At Jamtsholing, the Project Director of Gyalsung Infra pointed out how the voluntary services of De-suups in various National Service projects have had a profound and transformative impact on the lives of the people across the country. He expressed his appreciation to the De-suups for their deep sense of duty and spirit of volunteerism to serve at various Gyalsung sites.
The inaugural programs at the five Gyalsung sites were attended by officials from the Dzongkhag Administration, officials from the Local Government, Armed Forces, De-suung and Gyalsung Infra.
