His Majesty the King granted an audience to the National Security Advisor to the Prime Minister of India and the Indian Foreign Secretary, at the Hotel Taj Tashi today. They are here on a three-day official visit. They were also accompanied by the Indian Ambassador to Bhutan V.P Haran.
Shivshankar Menon had previously served as the Foreign Secretary. Prior to that he was Indian High commissioner to Pakistan and in China and Israel as ambassador and diplomat. He joined the Indian Foreign service in 1972.
The Foreign Secretary Sujatha Singh joined the Indian Foreign Service in July 1976. She presented her credentials as Ambassador to Germany on March 9 last year. This is her first visit abroad as India’s Foreign Secretary.
The visit is part of the traditional exchange of high level visits between the two countries.
