His Majesty the King granted an audience to the Indian Army’s Chief of Army Staff, General Bikram Singh at the Tashichhodzong today.
General Bikram Singh was received in a traditional chipdrel ceremony to the Tashichhodzong. After arriving at the courtyard of the dzong, he was presented with guard of honour by the royal body guards. He was then ushered into the throne room where he received audience with His Majesty the King.
General Bikram Singh, who is visiting Bhutan for the first time after assuming his current appointment, is on a three day visit. He also met the Chief Operations Officer of the Royal Bhutan Army, Major General Batoo Tshering.
During the visit, General Bikram Singh will hold discussions to further strengthen excellent military ties between Bhutan and India. He will also visit the Indian Military Training Team, important training establishments and other places of interest.
His Majesty also hosted a luncheon for the visiting dignitaries. General Bikram Singh was accompanied by his wife Surjeet Kaur, who is the President of the Army Wives Association.
