His Majesty the King graced the launch of the ‘National Clean and Sober Day’ by the Chithuen Phendhey Association.
The National Clean and Sober Day, dedicated to His Majesty The King, will be observed annually on November 22 to give recovering individuals an opportunity to show that recovery is real.
The launch was attended by more than 200 recovering individuals. They offered their gratitude to His Majesty, for His Majesty’s unwavering love and care for the recovering society in Bhutan.
In an hour-long Audience to the recovering individuals, His Majesty shared some stories of people His Majesty had met in Bhutan, which demonstrated the futility of giving up at an early age, and the power of determination.
His Majesty also granted seed money of Nu.10MN to the Chithuen Phendhey Association.
Upon the request of the Chithuen Phendhey Association, His Majesty also presented various awards from the Association to recognise individuals for their contribution in promoting a drug free society in Bhutan, helping others come out of addiction, and for successfully remaining sober for more than six years.
