High Court sentenced four people in gold smuggling case, today. Their sentence ranges from two and a half years to nine and a half years. They have been found guilty of smuggling seven kilograms of gold.
They have also been found guilty of criminal conspiracy, obstruction of lawful authority, aiding and abetting, and hindering prosecution.
Not satisfied with Chhukha District Court’s verdict, the Office of the Attorney General had appealed to the High Court in September, this year.
Tsimasham Police had arrested the four after they were found possessing seven gold biscuits, each weighing a kilogram in November, last year.
