His Holiness the Je Khenpo ordained more than a hundred nuns from Nepal’s Druk Gawa Kil Nunnery yesterday. The two-day ordination ceremony was held at the Namdroling Goenzin Dratshang in Lhuentse.
Kuenkhen Domgued or vow of Kuenken Pema Karpo is a vow that nuns and monks take to practice Drukpa Kagyu religion in a monastery.
Once the vow is taken, they have to refrain from getting involved in negative activities that harm other sentient beings.
“We feel very privileged and happy for this opportunity to come here and take this vow, as this vow is the lineage of Kuenkhen Pema Karpo,” Jigme Konchok Lhamo, one of the nuns, said.
“To receive vow under the blessing of His Holiness is a holy opportunity. And it is very important for me to keep pure transmissions of the teachings and practices,” Jigme Choedzin, another nun, said.
After taking the vows, the nuns also offered Ku-Sung-Thug- Mendrel to His Holiness the Je Khenpo.
His Holiness also granted scarves or razey to the nuns.
