His Holiness the Je Khenpo has appointed the new chief auditor of the Zhung Dratshang, the new principal of the Phochhu Dumra central monastic school and the new Lams for the Drakna Goempa and Dongkola monasteries. The new appointees received Dhar from His Holiness at the Trashichhoedzong this morning.
46-year-old Lam Kado from Punakha has been appointed as the new chief auditor of the Zhung Dratshang. He became a monk at the age of 11 by joining the Dechenphodrang monastic school in Thimphu. He continued his studies at the Dodedra monastic school and later graduated from the Tango University of Buddhist Studies. Before his current appointment, he was the Lam of the Drakna Guru Lhakhang at Samarzingkha in Thimphu.
50-year-old Lam Leki Tshering from Wangdue Phodrang has been appointed as the new principal of the Phochhu Dumra Central Monastic School in Punakha. Lam Leki joined the Pungthim Dratshang at a young age where he learned the skills of performing ceremonial rituals. He also completed his three-year retreat at the Cheri Drubdhey. He was previously the head accountant at the Zhung Dratshang head office.
The new lam of the Dongkola monastery in Paro is Lam Dawa from Punakha. He joined the Dechenphodrang monastic school at the age of seven where he learned the skills of performing ceremonial rituals. Before his present post, he was a teacher at the Semtokha monastic school.
And 43-year-old Nima Tshering has been appointed as the new lam of the Drakna Goempa in Thimphu. Originally from Paro, Lam Nima became a monk by joining the Pungthim monastic school and learned the skills of performing ceremonial rituals. He later graduated from Kanglung Shedra.
He completed his three-year retreat at the Tshelung Yoesel Chhoeling Drubdhey. He was formerly serving as the Gyalpoi Kangjub at the Punakha Dzong for the past three years.
