Gyalse Trulku Jigme Tenzin Wangpo is conferring a weeklong Kagyu Serthreng at Nagagdra Dorji Choegar in Mongar. Kagyu Serthreng is a golden rosary of Kagyu masters including Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyel.
Close to 500 devotees have gathered to receive the teachings from Gyalse Trulku, which began from today.
The teachings of Kagyu Serthreng, biographies of some of the Kagyu masters is being conducted for the first time in Eastern Bhutan.
The Gyeltshen Trulku of Nagagdra Dorji Choegar said such religious program is being conducted to pay respect to great masters like Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyel, who is the founder of Drukpa Kagyu teachings in the country.
The ceremony will end on March 16 with Tshewang or blessings for long life from Gyalse Trulku. Kagyu Serthreng will now be conducted annually.
