The Civil Registration and Census Services in Sarpang Dzongkhag are now expected to be faster and easier. The Gups and Mangmis of all 12 gewogs are provided with user credentials and passwords of the Bhutan Civil Registration and Census System. Through the system, the local leaders can provide services to people from anywhere in the district.
Bhutan Civil Registration and Census System provides services such as Birth and Death Registration, processing of new identity cards, census transfer and issuance of nationality certificates and household information among others.
In the past, the Gups and Mangmis were not able to cater these services to people when they were away from the office. They had to go through the census register book manually for personal information.
“Now through the system, we can access all information from our phones. Whether you want to register for childbirth or process an ID card, we can get the details easily,” said Taraythang Gup Dhanman Gurung.
“Right now, we can only provide the services related to census through the system. However, we can look into making other services available online as well. That would benefit everyone,” said Gelephu Gup Prem Prasad Katel.
Tenzin Choida, the Dzongkhag Census officer briefed the local leaders on the system last Friday. According to him, the information on the portal is confidential and should be used only for official purposes.
The user login credential will be deactivated once the members of the local government complete their term or if they are found sharing the credential with any unauthorized individuals.
