A high-level seminar on Green Public Procurement Project in Bhutan was held in the capital, today. The project is to convince public authorities to procure goods, services, and works with a reduced environment impact.
The project was started in 2014. Researchers from Royal Society for Protection of Nature, Bhutan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Royal Institute of Management came up with 10 findings within 18 months.
Following the findings, they recommended 10 points to be included in the procurement rules and regulations.
The recommendations include training for public procurers, capacity building of suppliers, and mentoring real time pilot, among others.
The recommendations have been submitted to the finance ministry on November 19, this year.
The project members are expecting response on December 24.
