The price of petrol has been reduced by up to Nu 4.46 and diesel by up to Nu 1.53. The fuel prices were revised following reduction in India.
This makes diesel more expensive than petrol now. Diesel now costs Nu 71.33 a litre, while petrol is being sold at Nu 68.60.
In Gelephu, where prices are the cheapest, petrol is being traded at Nu 61.88, cheaper by almost five ngultrum compared to diesel.
Across the country, petrol is cheaper by at least three ngultrum.
The new prices came into effect from midnight of November 1. The price drop comes after months of hikes.
The next change in fuel prices in the country is expected in a fortnight’s time. If the fuel price continues to decline in India, Bhutanese motorists can look forward to further reduction.
