Reversing an all time decrease in fuel prices, petrol and diesel prices were hiked yesterday in India. While petrol price increased by Rs 2.6 a litre, diesel increased by Rs 1.7 a litre.
This is a first major hike for petrol. Indian media reported the hike was a result of Indian rupee weakening against the dollar.
While petrol price decreased constantly since January, diesel prices increased around three times. Last year, fuel prices dropped seventeen times in the country.
Starting today midnight, petrol is likely to cost Nu 55.6 a litre while diesel will cost Nu 47.7 a litre. Indian media report attributed the hike to the weakening of Indian rupee against the dollar.
