Hundreds of Travellers and vehicles have been stranded in Samdrup Jongkhar following a two-day strike in Assam started this morning. This is the third such strikes in Assam this month, affecting most Bhutanese travellers and businesses in the neighbouring Dzongkhags.
The strike this time is being called by the All Koch Rajbongshi Student’s Union (AKRSU) in Bongaigoan District of Assam.
According to sources, the strike in few places in Assam on Tuesday, lead to some clashes between the police and protesters in Assam. This has led to another 48 hours strike, today and tomorrow.
A notification on another strike this Friday has been delivered. It is being called by the Bodoland Territorial Area District.
