Wangdue Phodrang District sentenced four men from three years to five years in prison for burglary and smuggling of marijuana. However, they can appeal to the higher court if they are not satisfied with the judgment.

Two men in their twenties from Bjena Gewog in Wangdue Phodrang were handed down five years sentence each for smuggling marijuana. The judgment was passed on July 10. Police arrested them in September last year in possession of 180 grams of marijuana from Rabuna.

In another case, a 28-year-old man from Tashiding in Dagana was sentenced to three years in prison for burglary. His partner in crime, a 37-year-old from Gase Tshogongm in Wangdue received three years three months prison term. According to the judgment, the convicts burgled a shop at Hesothangkha in October last year. But they were arrested only in December last year.

However, the partner will have to serve almost nine years in prison as he was convicted earlier in March this year for smuggling marijuana last year.
