A forest fire that broke out on Saturday afternoon at around 2 pm opposite to Namselling, Thimphu is still raging on.
According to officials the fire started when a 78-year-old woman was burning debris in her apple orchard. The fire has now reached opposite to Ramtokto and is spreading towards Kuenselphodrang.
The officials said so far about 100 acres of blue pine forest has been destroyed by the fire.
The Head of Forest Fire Management under Department of Forests, Tandin Dorji said, because of the wind, falling stones and the difficult terrain they will not be able to contain the fire soon.
Over 300 people are helping to contain the fire. People are deployed at Kuenselphodrang site too.
