A group of Bumthaps flew in from Bumthang to Paro in Drukair’s maiden domestic flight yesterday. It was unusual but interesting, as they took the flight just to play a friendly archery match in Paro.
From the airport, they went straight to the archery ground and played the match.
One of the passengers, Dorji Wangchuk, described it as exciting. “It will contribute in the socio-economic development of the country. To come from Bumthang by car it takes about 12 hours. Now we can travel in about twenty eight minutes. It will benefit the officials, business people and the public in general especially in times of sickness.
The group was received at the airport by the Drukair officials. They also took a group picture in front of the aircraft.
They will be returning to Bumthang on Saturday by the additional flight put in by Drukair.
Drukair will operate on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
