A team from Thimphu Thromde dismantled five semi-permanent houses in Changzamtok area, today. The semi-permanent houses were built illegally on the government land.
Thromde officials say they had issued a notification to dismantle the houses in March last year. They issued a second notice again, last month.
The Chief Development Control officer of the Thromde, Thinley Norbu said the Thromde had no option but to dismantle the houses.
The house owners said they have been living in area for almost two decades and the land belongs to them. However, they had failed to produce land ownership certificate.
