A family of five in Pangkhar village of Ura Gewog in Bumthang lost their home to fire this afternoon. The fire, which started at around 1:30 pm, razed the 2-storey traditional Bhutanese house to the ground.
The family lost all their belongings. There were no casualties as all the family members were working outside. Eyewitnesses claim the fire to have started from an electric short circuit.
The house is, however, insured and officials from RICBL are assessing the damages. Police, school teachers, Gewog officials and locals helped put out the fire.
