A fire destroyed a two-storey boys’ hostel at Yurung Central School in Pema Gatshel yesterday.
The incident took place at around 2 pm when the students were in their classes.
There were no casualties, but the belongings of the students who stay on the first floor were lost to the fire.
However, the firefighters including teachers, senior students and locals were able to save the belongings of the students who reside on the ground floor.
At present, the 105 male students are sleeping in the school’s dining hall and other empty rooms.
The school authority says they were not able to confirm the cause of the fire since the school was without electricity during the daytime for a week. The case is under investigation.
