Coinciding with the Global Money Week, the Royal Monetary Authority of Bhutan in collaboration with the World Bank officially launched the Financial Literacy Programme in Thimphu, today.
The RMA launched comic books, television and radio programmes, along with a music video on financial literacy.
The programme aims to ensure that every Bhutanese has access to safe financial services, and also the skills to use these services. “In the past the financial products that were provided by financial institutions were not that exotic, and did not require special skills, but now with the introduction of internet banking, electronic banking, and other high breed products , RMA as the regulator has to protect the rights of the consumer. It is important that every Bhutanese is financially literate”, shares the Deputy Governor and Head of FLP, Eden Dema.
The Financial Literacy Programme was first started in 2010 by RMA with a nation-wide awareness campaign.
