Bhutan Football Federation’s President, Ugen Tsechup Dorji, extended a formal invitation to FIFA President Gianni Infantino to visit Bhutan during a meeting at the FIFA office in Paris, France yesterday. The Bhutan Football Federation said President Ugen Tsechup Dorji is also proposing additional support from FIFA in addition to the regular FIFA Forward Programme funding that Bhutan receives.

The FIFA president assured President Ugen Tsechup Dorji of FIFA’s continued support for Bhutan. He also said that the growth of football in Bhutan has been “fantastic” and thanked the Bhutan Football Federation for supporting various FIFA initiatives such as FIFA Football for Schools.

The FIFA Forward Programme has provided over USD 11 M or almost a billion ngultrum to Bhutan since 2016. Eight artificial pitches have been installed in the country, so far, with FIFA’s support. Talking to FIFA yesterday, President Ugen Tsechup Dorji thanked the global football governing body for rendering its support to Bhutan.
