It is not possible to provide electricity connections to temporary huts that are built for guarding crops in rural areas. This, according to the energy and natural resources minister, is due to budget constraints and safety concerns.
The minister said this while responding to Nanong-Shumar MP’s query on the government’s plan to address the issues faced by rural farmers when guarding their crops in such huts without power supply.
“The government has to plan and allocate enough budget in order to supply electricity and also install additional power lines,” said Lyonpo Loknath Sharma.
“That is why, in the 13th Five Year Plan, we are planning to generate sufficient electricity from small hydro powers as well as from solar to supply sufficient electricity to everyone.”
