Only about a thousand postal ballots were rejected, a drastic decrease as against that of the National Council Elections this year. Of the 79,698 registered voters for postal ballot, the election commission has received 60,000 ballots including ballots from overseas.
Election officials said this was due to incomplete details provided by the voters.
The Election commission posted about 215 postal ballots to 13 countries for the primary round of election for which the expenditure amounted to Nu. 34,000.
An Assistant Returning Officer at New York issued a total of 60 Postal Ballot Packages based on the accepted list of applicants sent by respective Returning Officers.
However election officials said that over it is a drop of over 3000 ballots comparing to the National Council Elections.
There are a total of 381,790 registered voters for the National Assembly elections.
