The Election Commission of Bhutan (ECB) is carrying out educational programmes for political party supporters and coordinators throughout the country.
Party workers from Thimphu, Paro and Haa of the five registered parties were educated on the dos and don’ts in the first series of the one day seminar in Paro, today.
Over 30 party supporters and coordinators took part in the programme. The party workers were educated on the electoral laws and rules, their roles and responsibilities among others.
According to Kinley of the Election Commission of Bhutan, they have heard, many a times, of political workers causing problems in the community. The cause of the problems, he said was them being unfamiliar with what they can do and cannot. He says educating them will not only solve this problem but also ensure smooth election procedures in the future.
The Election Commission will hold the one-day programme for party workers in Samtse and Chhukha Dzongkhags next in Phuentshogling.
