The Dorji Lopen of the Zhung Dratshang conferred Dhar to the newly appointed Tsheney Kudrung and Lams of Dodrey Dzong and Lang-Nyelkha Goenzin Dratshang. They were conferred Dhar in Punakha Dzong today.
39-year-old Tshering Dorji is the new Tsheney Kudrung. He is from Punakha and began monkhood at the age of seven. He completed his studies from Tango Dorden Tashithang Buddhist University. Before the appointment, he served as a Kangjup at Utse Goenkhang in Punakha Dzong.
45-year-old Sigay Dorji from Wangdue Phodrang is the new Lam of Dodrey Dzong at Dawakha in Paro. He was enrolled in monastic school at the age of ten and completed his studies from Tango Buddhist University. He underwent a three-year retreat at Peygiri Goenpa above Cheri Monastery in Thimphu. He served as a vice principal at Phochhu Dumra Central Buddhist Primary School in Punakha.
And the new Lam of Lang-Nyelkha Goenzin Dratshang in Chhukha is 35-year-old Thinley Dorji from Bumthang. He began his monkhood at the age of eight in Buli Dratshang in Bumthang. Later at the age of 15, he joined the Zhung Dratshang and completed his studies from Tango Buddhist University. He underwent his three-year retreat at Tshamdra Goenpa in Chhukha.
