According to the Druk Nyamrup Tshogpa’s party office, the candidates for the bye-election for National Assembly Members of the Monggar and Nganglam constituencies will be announced tomorrow. Similarly, the Druk Phuensum Tshogpa (DPT) said they will finalise the candidates this weekend.

According to sources, DNT’s candidates are Karma Lhamo from Monggar and Karma Dorji from the Nganglam constituency. Karma Lhamo is a former Member of Parliament of the Druk Phuensum Tshogpa (DPT), and the party’s candidate for the last three parliamentary elections. She has deregistered from the DPT in 2019.

Karma Dorji is one of the founding members of Druk Nyamrup Tshogpa. He also contested from the Nganglam constituency in the previous parliamentary elections.

Meanwhile, speculation is rife that the Druk Phuensum Tshogpa’s Nganglam candidate is Rinchen Pelzang. He served as a Gewog Agriculture Extension Officer and was in service for the last 13 years. Sources also said the DPT’s candidate for Monggar constituency is 30-year-old Dorji Youden from Chhaling. She served as a librarian in one of the schools in Lhuentse.

The bye-election for Monggar and Nganglam constituencies will be held on 29th June.
