Residents of Dhangdoong village under Langthil Gewog in Trongsa will now have reliable and safe drinking water. This is following the completion of the De-suung National Service Water Project in the gewog. The project will benefit about 60 households in the village.
Forty Dessups carried out the project in February this year and completed it before the deadline.
“We had a severe water problem in the past. For instance, we had to fetch water by carrying it on our backs taking almost an hour. But with the grace of His Majesty The King, we are now blessed to have reliable water for all purposes,” said Tshering Wangdi, a resident in the village.
“We had drinking water problem from the time of our parents. But today, with the water project, we are now blessed. We need not worry now. We couldn’t have accomplished such a mammoth task had it not been for our Desuups. So we would like to thank them too,” added Kuenzang Namgay, another resident.
“The effective utilisation of the Soelra is very important. For instance, we must know how to manage and preserve whatever we receive from the throne and the government. So now we have formed a group and awarded the equipment who will monitor and manage,” said Sonam Dendup, the Langthil Gup.
A reservoir with a capacity of 20,000 litres was constructed at a distance of about 10 kilometres from the village.
