The Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) under the Ministry of Information and Communications has been slapped a fine of Nu. 2.3 Million for not carrying out the Environment Impact Assessment before starting works on the Batpalathang domestic airport in Bumthang.
The Prime Minister Lyonchhen Jigmi Y Thinley said this was not a good example the government is setting during meet the press yesterday.
“The fine must be paid. It is a gross violation of the land act. Meanwhile, the NEC will ensure that the Environment Impact Assessment is conducted,” said the Prime Minister.
