The Sunday market in Damji in Gasa was an initiative to help enhance vegetable production, and create marketing link between customers and growers. Initially, with no customers, the market died only to revive again.
The weekend market was first started in 2011, but it lasted just for a few weeks with no buyers.
However, now after three years, the market has come back to life. The market was opened early this month with a new hope to continue what once failed.
To keep the market going, a Damji vegetable group with 41 members was also formed this year.
This time, two members are from Bjishong Middle Secondary School who will be the main customer.
The vegetables which are all organic were sold for a maximum of Nu.20 per kg.
In the meantime, even the customers supported and welcomed the idea.
