As part of the celebrations to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of India’s independence, the Indian Embassy in Thimphu organised a conference today on the contribution of Assam to India’s freedom struggle. It also highlighted connectivity and collaborations between Assam and Bhutan.
The economic affairs minister, Loknath Sharma, and the Indian Ambassador, Ruchira Kamboj, graced the event. Officials and high school and college students also participated virtually.
Bhutan shares a border with Assam and has historical and commerce links with the Indian state. The country also opened a Consulate in Guwahati, the state’s capital, recently.
