In commemoration of His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo’s 64th birthday, Her Majesty the Queen Mother Tseyring Pem Wangchuck offered butter lamps at the Memorial Chorten in Thimphu today. Members of the Royal Family and other dignitaries were also present at the ceremony.

A day-long prayer ceremony was also organised for the long life, happiness and wellbeing of His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo. The day also marks the 4th national day of happiness.

The event is organised by the Gross National Happiness Centre Bhutan (GNHCB).

In Samtse, coinciding with His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo’s birthday, prayers and butter lamps were offered at the ongoing moenlam chenmo for His Majesty’s good health and long life.

The Letshog Lopen of the Zhung Dratshang, Sangay Dorji, led the prayers. The economic affairs minister and members of parliament also attended the prayer ceremony. The annual moenlam chenmo ends, tomorrow, with Gonpoi Tshepami Wang for the public.
