With the poll day just two days away, Chhoekhor_Tang is all set to elect a new representative for the National Assembly seat. Campaigns have closed, most voters already decided and polling officials have been deployed.
The election campaign ended at 9 AM this morning. Both the Party Presidents went an extra-mile with the campaign than the voters initially anticipated. All eyes are on Chhoekhor_Tang and both the candidates are ready to face the outcome, come Thursday evening.
With no major disputes and flare-up between the two parties recorded so far, voters are slowly starting to understand the importance of upholding the secrecy of vote and voting rights.
“People are aware of which candidate would serve them better. I hope they would choose the right candidate and the elected representative would serve the country as expected,” said Sonam Tshomo, from Nangsiphel under Chhoekhor in Bumthang.
“I already decided whom to vote for. With the poll day fast approaching, I am anxiously waiting for the result,” added Norbu Tenzin, from Zhabjethang in Bumthang.
Meanwhile, polling officials and police personnel are already deployed to the constituency’s 11 polling stations.
As per the election officials, voters must wear masks on the poll day and the COVID-19 preventive measures will be strictly implemented. Polls will open at 8 AM and close by 4 in the evening.
