A Nu 50 M Buddhist school, supported by the Government of India, will be built in Tashichhoeling Dungkhag in Samtse. The project is considered as one of the biggest projects in south-west zone of the country. Once complete it will provide an eight year long course to young monks and novices.
The construction of Zhirim Lobdra Tewa was envisaged by His Holiness the Je Khenpo. It will be constructed in the area where the current Dratshang stands.
Lam Choeda Jamtsho of Tashichoeling Dratshang said this is the first time in Samtse where a project of this size is being carried out to help young monks to get wholesome monastic education.
The construction of the school will take about 20 months to complete. It will enrol about 150 monks.
They will be learning the basics of the primary monastic education which include instrumentation and introduction to basic sutras and mantras of Buddhist studies.
