(Update): The Bhutan Power Corporation’s Technician, who was on duty when four men were electrocuted, is under police custody. If found guilty, the case will be forwarded to the court, said the Police.
The incident took place in Trashigang on November 12, when they were working on an electricity pole.
All of them, including the other two who have been discharged from the hospital, were villages working on for BPC.
“The incident was a technical failure,” said BPC’s Regional Manager, Kunzang Dorjee. He also said safety measures have and will always be their priority.
BPC’s Manager also said their office has given full support to the families of the victims.
The victims were working for Bhutan Power Corporation on a daily wage of Nu.155 to change the power line.
They have been working for the last three months. The work was about to be completed when the incident happened.
