Leading up to the opening game week of the league, a pre-match press conference was held today in the capital. During the press conference, head coaches and team captains shared their preparations and expectations for the upcoming league. 10 teams will battle it out for the next four months to be crowned the champions of the land. In the opening fixture, Namlha FC will go head to head against defending champions Paro FC at the Changlimithang Stadium. This year will see two teams, Namlha FC who won the BPL qualifiers and Thimphu Raven FC, making their debut in the country’s top tier football competition.

And it was revealed that star player, Chencho Gyeltshen has switched allegiances and joined Thimphu City FC. Chencho last played club football for Machhindra FC in Nepal. This is what Thimphu City’s head coach, Ngawang Dendup has to say about Chencho joining his squad.
