A bird flu outbreak has been reported in Singaygang village under Tashichhoeling Gewog in Samtse. The National Center for Animal Health confirmed it yesterday. So far, around 50 chickens were lost to the disease in the village.
Livestock officials suspect the infection to have started from a dead jungle fowl found nearby the village earlier this month. The disease can affect the respiratory and gastrointestinal systems in humans.
The Agriculture and Livestock ministry said that the situation is fully under control and control measures are already being put in place.
