Sixty-five Bhutanese residing in Bangladesh received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine today. With no access to vaccine in Bangladesh, the Embassy in Dhaka proposed the Bhutan government for vaccines for those living in Bangladesh. It was proposed following the surge in COVID-19 infection in Bangladesh recently.
The Government approved the Embassy’s proposal and nine vials of Covishield vaccines were received by the Embassy on 14th April, Wednesday.
As per the Embassy, there were no cases of any severe adverse reaction to the vaccine.
“I would like to thank His Majesty The King, our government and the Bhutanese Embassy in Dhaka for the vaccine,” said Tandin Penjor, a student.
“I would like to thank His Majesty for the vaccine,” said Nima Lhamo, another student.
A few students will be vaccinated later this month. They couldn’t be vaccinated today due to their exams.
