The Bhutanese karate team won bronze in seven different categories at the Third South Asian Karate Championships.
Tshering Dorji won one bronze medal, Dewan Monger won two, Sherab Wangchuk one and Karma Dorji won two bronze medals in kata and kumite matches.
The team also won bronze in the team kata competition.
This is the first time the Bhutanese team has participated in the competition. Players from Bhutan, India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Pakistan and Bangladesh took part in the 3rd south Asian karate championships held in New Delhi. The games ended yesterday.
In the meantime, Bhutan Karate Association’s President, Ugyen Wangchuk has also been elected as the Vice President of the South Asian Karate Do Federation.
