A first group of 49 Thai tourists under the “Bhutan-Thailand Friendship offer” arrived in Paro today. The scheme was launched earlier to celebrate the 25 years of Diplomatic relations between the two countries.
This offer will be available only during the off season, from June till August. Under this scheme, visitors only need to pay the US$ 65 tariff and visit through an agent. They can choose for the services such as food and lodge.
The two airlines, Drukair and Bhutan Airlines, will also offer 50 percent discounts on airfare. Hoteliers will also offer discounts of upto 50 percent.
Tourism Council of Bhutan expects the numbers to treble through the scheme.
