Bhutan Thailand Friendship Association launched

Bhutan-Thailand-FriendshipLyonchhen Tshering Tobgay launched the Bhutan Thailand Friendship Association yesterday. Hundreds of Bhutanese and Thais gathered to celebrate the occasion.

Lyonchhen was also granted an audience by Princess Bajrakitiyabha Mahidol on the side-lines of the Bangkok dialogue.

Princess Bajrakitiyabha Mahidol shared that she was impressed by Lyonchhen’s statement at the dialogue and that she was looking forward to learning from Lyonchhen’s experiences. Lyonchhen Tshering Tobgay presented the Princess Bajrakitiyabha Mahidol with a silk Kira from eastern Bhutan.

The Minister of Labour, Mr. Chalerm Yubamrung, also called on Lyonchhen in the afternoon. The two talked about areas of cooperation including the possibility of sending Bhutanese to Thailand to work. Mr. Yubamrung said the Thai government has kept aside Baht 7 million to train Bhutanese. Thai authorities and the Ambassador of Bhutan to Thailand are expected to work on the details.Bhutan-Thailand-Friendship-2

Representatives from the Thai Chamber of Commerce also called on Lyonchhen, yesterday. They discussed a variety of issues and also spoke about partnering with the Bhutan Chamber of Commerce to do business. Representatives from various other sectors were present as well. In the evening, Lyonchhen paid homage to the holy remains of PhraNyanasamvara Sangha Raja, the late head abbott of Thailand and root teacher of Thai King Bhumibol Adulyadej.
