The Bhutan Tendrel Party has revealed seven candidates in Punakha today. The candidates will represent the party from constituencies in Chhukha, Gasa, Haa, Punakha, Samtse, Thimphu and Trashigang.
Forty-five-year-old Pema Tenzin will represent the party from the Bongo-Chapchha constituency in Chhukha. He is a former member of parliament. He has a Master of Business Administration from Victoria University in Australia.
Ugyen Dem is the party’s candidate from the Khatoed-Laya constituency in Gasa. The 30-year-old has worked as a teacher for five years. She has a Bachelor of Arts in English and Dzongkha from Royal Thimphu College.
33-year-old Ngawang Tobgay is the party’s candidate from the Sombaykha constituency in Haa. He served as an Executive Director of the Film Association of Bhutan. He has a Post Graduate Diploma in National Law from the Royal Institute of Management.
Dr Gyambo Sithey will represent the party from the Lingmukha-Toedwang constituency in Punakha. The 51-year-old worked in the Health Ministry for more than 10 years. He has a Doctorate in Public Health from the University of Sydney in Australia.
A former member of parliament, 54-year-old Ritu Raj Chhetri will represent the party from the Tashichhoeling constituency in Samtse. He has Master in Environmental Law from the Australian National University.
39-year-old Dr Sonam Penjor is the party’s candidate from the North Thimphu constituency in Thimphu. He served as the chairperson of the Hotel and Restaurant Association of Bhutan. He has a Doctorate in International Business and Global Management from European International University in France.
And Rinchen Wangdi will represent the party from the Bartsham-Shongphu constituency in Trashigang. Before joining the party, the 52-year-old was the secretary of the Gross National Happiness Commission. He has a Master in Development Economics from the Australian National University.
Bhutan Tendrel Party is the country’s sixth registered political party.
