Bhutan reports highest-ever single-day spike of 527 COVID cases

The country reported a record 527 new cases of COVID-19 today. Of it, 356 cases are from the community, the highest community cases recorded ever. Phuentshogling reported the highest community cases. A four-day mass screening is ongoing in the bordering town which will end tomorrow.

Chhukha reported 347 new cases. All cases are from Phuentshogling. 338 are from the community, five are contacts and four are domestic travellers.

Samdrup Jongkhar recorded 102 new cases; Samdrup Jongkhar Thromde reported two community cases, 21 contacts and five domestic travellers. 53 are contact cases from Dewathang. One is a contact from Jomotsangkha and Samdrupcholing reported 20 contact cases.

Samtse reported 22 new cases of which two are community cases from Samtse and Ugyentse and the rests are contact cases from Dhamdum and Gomtu.

Sarpang reported 18 new cases, two from the community and 16 contact cases. All cases are from Gelephu.

Pema Gatshel reported 24 new cases; three from the community and 21 contacts cases.

Meanwhile, Wangdue Phodrang saw a sharp decline in the daily cases. The district detected nine new cases. Six are community cases from Taksha, rest are contacts from Jimithangkha and Bangtoedkha.

Thimphu detected three community cases from Changbangdu.

Paro reported two imported cases from quarantine facilities.

Meanwhile, 158 individuals are declared recovered today.
