Although Bhutan lost the game, the team salvaged some pride and put up a decent performance against Hong Kong, yesterday. It was a narrow score-line of 1-0 against the higher-ranked side visitors in the second leg. This is Bhutan’s fifth loss in a row of the World Cup qualifier.
Hong Kong forward-line looked to wreck havoc early on but failed to make it count. The Bhutanese offense also got good chances but couldn’t find the target. Bhutan’s goalkeeper, Hari Gurung, was at his instinctive best and his quick reflexes helped keep Hong Kong forward frustrated.
The game seemed like heading towards a goalless draw. However, towards the dying moments of the game, Bhutan conceded a corner, which was converted with a cracking header by Hong Kong’s striker, Chan Sui Ki.
Bhutan still sits at the bottom of group C. Hong Kong holds onto the second spot.
