Bhutan and the Federal Republic of Germany formally established diplomatic relations today at the Royal Bhutan Embassy in New Delhi. The knot was tied with hopes to strengthen and develop mutually beneficial relations between the two countries.
The exchange of Verbale Notes took place between the Ambassador of Bhutan to India. Major General V. Namgyel and Ambassador of Germany to India, Walter J. Lindner.
At the Exchange of Verbale Notes ceremony, the two Ambassadors exchanged views on areas of mutual cooperation and expressed the desire of their Governments to cooperate closely in areas of mutual benefit. Even before the diplomatic relation with Germany was established, Bhutan continued to receive support from Germany through the European Union.
Bhutan now has diplomatic relations with 53 countries and the European Union.
