While much of Buddhist values are about finding the inner self, Bhutanese are now finding joy in exploring the vastness of the cosmos. Space enthusiasts have come together to form the Bhutan Astronomical Society to study and understand the universe that we are part of. The society will provide educational resources, workshops, and training programmes for students, teachers, and other enthusiasts interested in astronomy. Stargazing sessions, public lectures and outreach programmes are in the pipeline to take the curiosity in astronomy forward.
Reporter Sherub Dorji caught up with Yeshey Choden, one of the founders of the Bhutan Astronomical Society and a space engineer to learn more about the Bhutan Astronomical Society.
